Zons am Rhein is one of the few uniquely preserved medieval towns with a very well-preserved 14th-century fortification, and is therefore often referred to as the Rothenburg of the Rhineland.

Highlights / Events in Zons

The fairy tale festival in Zons is undoubtedly one of the biggest highlights of the summer for both children and adults. Open Air, a different fairy tale is presented every year on the open-air stage of the Zwinger Castle Friedestrom in Zons. In 2017 it is the fairy tale ” Cinderella ” by the Brothers Grimm. 

The city organizes a medieval arts and crafts market every autumn, the ” Matthäusmarkt “, knight festivals and a great Christmas market.
